Trails to Love

The annual Covered Bridge Festival brings thousands of people to Parke County, Indiana every year, providing a boost to their local economy in a short period of time. The Covered Bridge Gateway Trails Association is working on creating a more permanent flow of tourism by building connecting liner parks. In 2009 the Association, a501c3 non-profit, was formed, by a group of folks who are not avid cyclists or runners, but people who care about the future of Parke County. Beginning in late 2014 Indianapolis became the site of the largest electric car share operation in the nation.  With this development Indianapolis has become the leader in this very important step in changing transportation within dense metropolitan areas.  Prior to this the only electric car share operations were on the west coast.  Indianapolis and Indiana received positive press coverage in the Spring of 2014 when Forbes Magazine carried a story about Blueindy. Trail Extension Ribbon Cutting

An extension to the hiking-biking trail system was opened in Anderson on May 31, 2014.  The trail now extends from the Rangeline Road on the far eastern side of town through the center of town reaching Raible Avenue on the far western side of town.  The trail follows the White River as it flows through town skirting the downtown area.  The trail also has an extension around the wetland preserve and two lakes of Shadyside Park located just north of the downtown area.
